Balance: Part 3 Take a Break

Take a BreakBalance Part 3 Take a Break

I fully believe it pretty much starts at the moment you realize you are a mom. What you ask??? 8 arms, superhuman strength, and eyes in the back of your head. Somehow, once you become a mom, your body morphs into a strange mix of an octopus and Stretch Armstrong. Moms and (to be fair) Dads develop an amazing talent for doing 8 things as once in a million different places at once.

Balance Tip #3- Take a break

While this is an amazing talent, keeping it up for any extended length of time can be particularly draining. Have you ever felt that way? I’m talking about that “if I step on ONE MORE Lego, while doing laundry, AND cooking dinner, I’m going to LOSE it!!” feeling. If so, perhaps, like me, you could use the third key to balance.

Well, here it is...take a break. Sounds simple enough, right? But if you are feeling out of balance, taking a break seems rather counter-intuitive.  I usually feel if I just put one more thing away or cross one more thing off my list then balance will be restored in my world. But in reality, that isn’t how it works because let’s face it, there will always be one more thing. So step back and take a break. you haven’t check out the first two parts, Balance Part 1 and Balance Part 2 be sure to click on over to catch up!

Spend some time with friends

One of the best ways to take a break is to spend some time with friends. Darling Hubby and I are part of a great group of people who get together once a month to play euchre {Never played? Check THIS out.} It is a great way for us to take a break and get out among adults for a little while. It is just one night a month but we really look forward to it and our group never disappoints.

This past weekend, we hosted at our house. I must admit, we didn’t serve the healthiest dinner but boy was it good. DH did the bulk of the cooking with deep fried fish, onion rings, shrimp, cole slaw, and fries. It was the perfect preview of a good old Lenten fish fry.

For dessert, I found THIS  recipe and changed a few things. My version is a Salted Caramel Apple Crumble. Recipe coming SOON! The best part? It’s a crock pot recipe!

One of the things I love about our group is no one is afraid to share their opinions. During the game, over the years, we have had many discussions on everything from health care d, to skinny jeans on men (uggg). Whatever you find to do, be sure to take a break.

The three parts to a happier, more balanced life are:

Prioritize the Important Things

Get Rid of the Junk

Take a Break (maybe play a little on Pinterest!)

Following these three steps will all work together to allow you to feel less stress and more in control of daily life.
