Homeschooling-Where to Find Great Deals

Let’s face it, making the choice to homeschool your child can put a pretty large dent in the budget. Many curriculum bundles can run upwards of $500-600. Sure, those are convenient and can save time, but if you are willing to put in a little effort, you can save hundreds while still having all the materials you will need for a quality, well-rounded education.

If you haven’t check out Groupon Coupons yet, you are missing out. They have a large number of great deals on almost anything you could need. Two that I love are:

  • Scholastic Teacher Express- You can save up to 75% and get free shipping using Groupon Coupons codes. Scholastic Teacher Express has a HUGE assortment, for any level or subject. Even if you are looking to supplement your child’s traditional education, you will find all you need at a great price to help your child.
  • Kiwi Crate– If you haven’t heard of Kiwi Crate, you are sooo missing out. This will be on my kids’ Christmas list for sure and is a great alternative to traditional gifts. Kiwi Crate is a monthly subscription box that comes with everything you need for hands on learning and experimentation lessons. Kiwi Crate is specifically for ages 5-8 so it is perfect for my littles. The Kiwi Crate focuses on creativity, STEM, and STEAM activities that allow kids to be creative and innovative. I think it would be great, not only to have everything you need for creative learning in one box, but I’m sure you kids are like mine, and love getting packages in the mail. If you go through Groupon Coupons, you can save up to 60% on Kiwi CrateCollage of sample Kiwi Crate projects

Where to Find Other Great Deals

  • The Dollar Store- No joke. The Dollar Store is a great resource, not only for classroom supplies, bins, and organizers, but they have quite a selection of quality workbooks especially for preschool/beginner learners. I have been able to find wonderful activity books- for both language and math- that are perfect for Little Miss. In addition, they usually have a good assortment of puzzles and coloring books as well. All for $1! Can’t beat it. All of these are Dollar Store Finds. $6 well spent!
  • Teachers Pay Teachers- The best part of Teachers Pay Teachers is that you can find as much or as little as you need. If you only need a small activity for review, or if you need an entire year’s lesson plans, you can find it at Teacher Pay Teachers pretty much all downloadable right away-no shipping necessary. In addition, many teachers have quite a few “freebies” available as well. It is a great resource.
  • Pinterest- No list of great free and low-cost resources would be complete without including the wealth of websites, ideas, and printables available on Pinterest. If you haven’t checked it out, I don’t know what dark corner of the universe you have been living in but I promise you, you will LOVE it!
  • Costco/Sams/Half-Price Books- These are all great places to find excellent resources. We find most of our Bob Books at these locations as well as many great supplemental texts at a great price.

Putting together a quality curriculum for your child doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Do some of the legwork, pull pieces from many different places to create the perfect, well-rounded curriculum for your child and save some of that money for quality outings like museum or zoo passes.

What are some of the ways you like to save money on your homeschooling supplies?

Some great resources Leanne. Groupon just recently withdrew from South Africa, which is really sad. They always had such great specials. That Kiwi crate sounds like something I’d want to get for a friend of mine that’s doing homeschooling at the moment, I’m all for bring out creativity in little ones.

Oh I love Groupon! You can find some incredible deals here as well. I love all these great places to find bargains. I am a huge fan of pinterest for ideas and inspiration. I sometimes find that I spend more time doing the ‘research’ than actually doing the activities 🙂 xxx
