The Big Book Roundup

No one can dispute the benefits that your child will gain from being read to each and every day. Some studies even suggest that there are many benefits to reading to your child, even before they are born. Children who are immersed in books show greater creativity, better comprehension skills, and an overall better sense of well being. The saying is true, great readers are made on the laps of their parents.

Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.

Each and every night, we sit with our children and read through 1, 2, and sometimes even 3 or more stories together as a family on our bed. This is a great nightly tradition to get some family time, relax time, and educational time all together. Yes, sometimes they hang on every word and other times we might as well be reading to the dog, but we do it together and we do it because it is important.

However, it can be difficult to find stories that interest all three kiddos and that the baby has a prayer of understanding. But here is my list of “must haves” in our top 5 Collections of Children’s Stories. These books have served us well and are much more practical to use that keeping track of the nearly 50 different stories they offer.

Over the past 5 years, these stories have grown to be near and dear to my heart and I hope your family finds as much joy in them as my family has. One day, I would like my children to come across these books and think back to all the adventures we shared together between the pages.

The Complete Adventures of Curious George

This is by far, our all time favorite collection of stories. All three children have fallen asleep clutching this book. Big Man even sleeps with George every night. Love, love, love this collection.

Snuggle Time Devotions That End with a Hug!

I probably should have put this one closer to the top if I was ordering them according to favorites. I can’t emphasize enough how well written this book is. It contains actual scripture but with such a clear explanation of what it actually means to small children. This book really focuses on the love and care that God has for us. Totally a must have.

It’s great to get book tips, there’s nothing worse than a rubbish bedtime story (I could be exaggerating slightly). Keep them coming x
